Rewards and Consequences

One of the most popular parenting techniques these days is using a system of rewards and consequences to “train” our children to do what we want them to do. And there is certainly a place for that!

But what about when it doesn’t work? What do we do when our kids get older and want more independence? What if, no matter what we try, they still insist on making mistakes? What then?

I certainly don’t have all the answers. But I have found that the more I understand and honor their agency, the more peaceful and confident I am as a parent.

In this episode I share some real life examples of what it looks like to balance agency with rules and consequences.
